  1. not a vrey good selection at all yall need to add more books about any i dont care what but seriously i think yall have at most 200 books about nothing

  2. how do i become a member. and the audio books keep on saying ” oops” do i have to be a member to use the audio files?

  3. Wow! Wonderful site, nice service, excellent browsing and d/l’ing experience! You’ll just have to forgive those amongst the human herd who bring their entitlement issues with them and then (imagine!) complain!

Nice selection, too. Please keep up the great work.

  4. Nice recordings, may i ask what technology you used in your audio tracks to get thm online. It would be good for us to describe our products in a way that our readership can understand things through audio.

Thanks again for your insight :)

  5. awesome list! It’d be a good idea to put Thomas Hardy in there; Tess of the d’Urbervilles. Stephanie meyer is not considered a classic author.

  6. I AM NEW AT THIS AND AM UNABLE TO COME INTO ANY LIBRARY AS I AM DISABLED, BUT I WANT RO READ, I DONT CARE TOO MUCH FOR AUDIO, THO SOON THAT WILL BE MY ONLY CHOICE.
I WOULD LIKE TO PICK UP ON THE V.C.ANDREWS BOOKS. I STOPPED DUERING “THE WILDFLOWERS” SERIES. IVE BEEN TOLD BY MANY, TO SEARCH W/ MY ZIP CODE FOR MY PUBLIC LIBRARY TO BASICALLY CHECK OUT AND READ PRACTICALLY ANY BOOKS THE LIBRARIES IN VENETA, EUGENE, SPRINGFIELD, OR ANY OTHER PUBLIC LIBRARY IN MY AREA. THAT MAY HAVE THE ON-LINE BOOK SYSTEM TO OFFER. DEPENDING ON HOW FAST A PERSON READS, YOU EITHER DOWN-LOAD A FEW CHAPTERS AT A TIME, THE WHOLE BOOK IF YOU ARE A FAST READER. OR, JUST AS IT IS IF YOU WALK IN TO CHECK BOOKS OUT YOU BOTTOW AS MANY AS YOU WANT AS LONG AS YOU RETUFN ON TIME. I HAVENT ANY IDEA HOW THIS ON-LINE THING WOULD WORK THO, SINCE YOUR NOT ACTUALLY TAKING BOOKS FROM THE FACILITY.
SOUNDS SO COMPLICATED AND YET SO EASY AT THE SAME TIME.
I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP I COULD GET AS SOON AS I COULD GGET IT,,,A PERSON CAN OBLY WATCH SO MUCH T.V. OR SIT DOING NOTHING!!!! I LOVE TO READ, AND WHEN I GET MY STUFF MOVED OUT OF STORAGE, I AM DEFINATLY PLANNING TO DONATE MY BOOKS TO WHOM EVER WANTS THEM. EVERY SERIES IVE READ I HAVE THE COMPLETE SERIES ALLREADY.THANK YOU SAWN

  7. “The mere mention of Stephanie Meyer amongst this list is not only repulsive, but an insult to true great literature”

What defines a classic John…antiquity? Or popularity? I think just because you dont like a book does not make it any less of a book? Literature is first and foremost meant for enjoyment, and many would much rather read a book by Stephanie Meyer than The Art of War, or War and Peace. Yes, recommend books, but please dont shun other peoples recommendation based on your own opinions.

P.s I agree that Catcher in the Rye would be a good one on here.

  8. Wondelful page, it really help learning English people like me. It would be great if you can add books by Issac Asimov, good science fiction, well he wrote almost about everything.

  9. Considering this comment:

“Boewolf is amazing. And I agree-some Stephanie Meyer would be awesome!”

The mere mention of Stephanie Meyer amongst this list is not only repulsive, but an insult to true great literature.

You have a very good collection thus far, and the ease of use of this site is the most attractive part of your efforts. Well done!

  10. Needs some Samuel Beckett and James Joyce. Other than that, pretty nice collection. And please do keep Stephanie Meyer out. Harry Potter is tolerateable, but adding Meyer would greatly bring down the class of your collection.

  11. Amazing how many people in this world complain about something they are getting for free and even those that don’t exacly complain are doing so by requesting things you don’t have. A justified comment would seem to me to be

“Comment by Alison on May 9, 2008 @ 7:50 am

This is a great service you’ve got going on here, but I agree with Royal, a few more selections would be fantastic. Good luck with it!”

But a more reasonable comment would be to request that you put a wish list on the site where visitors can name a book or author that they would like to see formatted on your site. I also think that it might be a good idea to put in ten foot high red lettering that there is such a thing as copyrght which prevents you from putting every book on your site. I would also like to say that where some other sites may have been in existence longer and have a larger library it is the ease of how to use your site and the clear information provided that makes it so excellent. I am an avid reader and writer myself and intend making numerous trips to your site to re-read the classics or maybe listen to them and will I hope eventually get to the new writers in the hope of discovering a future classic.

  12. I need to prepare an essay; so I would like to know if you have in your records:Lao-Tzu history.

It would be great if you have it in audiobook, because English is my second language, and there is no better than listen a real English pronounciation like yours!

    Respectfully yours,
    Rosina

  13. i was wondering if u could please add lurlene mcdaniels books to ur site thank you preferably “mother hel me live”

  14. Great selection!

Any hope of getting the Little Prince in the original French, or le Compte de Monte Cristo?

  15. You guys should put author Sharon G Flake There

Thank You Have a wonderful day

    Your Reader,
    Lori

  16. I realize the list is limited, but after having done some research (I just wrote a post on free online books and included PublicLit) I found that your list, its organization and format, was the easiest one to use. I did notice however that there are only portions of the books in audio form for example Pride and Prejudice. I am hoping that you will make gradual improvements and all chapters will be available in audio.

I prefer to hear the books by pressing one key; I do not want to download and “then” hear my selection.

  17. not a very good selection, project gutenberg has like 20 times your amount. and by the way I do not think that the (c) on mockingbird expired yet, but I just figured out after 1/2 hour of looking for it.

  18. For those wondering… I believe the second book after ‘Paradise Lost’ is ‘Paradise Regained’.

    :)

  19. This is a great service you’ve got going on here, but I agree with Royal, a few more selections would be fantastic. Good luck with it!

  20. I think that you need to add books by Haddix, Margaret Peterson like Among the imprisnd and Among the brave, those are inttresting books, or even the Laura iingalls sseries

  21. Here are some common searches that aren’t available in the public domain but we may be able to get previews:
    1. Catcher and the Rye
    2. Clockwork Orange
    3. Harry Potter
    4. Stephen King
    5. Dan Brown
