Busy lives and filled calendars
an overflowing schedule book
office meetings, family visits
no speed limit on that road you took.
Children raised by day care nannies
produced by parents on the run
scared to miss out on a promotion
you’d rather die than be outdone.
Power lunch down to the minute
got to catch the faster train
hustle through another day
no time to think if it’s lived in vain.
If you would stop just for a moment
you’d see the sky’s never been this blue
nature breathes, God shines upon you
there are still marvels, but you have no clue.
Time commitments numb your spirit
there’s never room for an empty thought
those suffocating obligations
wash away the lost battle you fought.
On few days longing overpowers
and lust becomes the center stage
mindless sex instead of loving
you forced yourself into that cage.
Amongst your breed you feel secure
but grasping hands are affectionless
when dusk prevails your heart still yearns
and you can’t deny your loneliness.
