The Best Poem

Within the vanguard where thoughts marry ideas,
and substance materializes from a void in space.
And from this marriage words come to life
and are born free to express themselves.

Listen to the sounds they make
as they dance along on a white page.
How they conjure up images
inside the readers mind.

Poems often have double meanings,
or can be interpreted differently.
Giving the reader something to chew on
and bring to light what’s in a poets mind.

Other times these words are cheerful,
easy to understand and uplift.
And who can say which is the best poem;
those from deep thought, or carefree and light?
George J. Carroll

My Baby Sisiter has Leukemia

The news declares a wreck on I-15

A three-alarm fire and impending storm

An Amber Alert shows a missing child

And my baby sister has leukemia

My daughter wants help with training a horse

My granddaughter needs a bedtime story

And hugs and kisses and tucked into bed

And my baby sister has leukemia

There are bills to pay and chores to do

I move as fast as I can but still can’t keep up

So many hats I must wear to make life work

And my baby sister has leukemia

So…the pace of life screeches to a halt

Soon, however, heartbreak fuels action

I lay myself down for a bone tissue test

And my baby sister has leukemia

The Observer

The Observer

The connecting strand

Softly running through

God’s Synchronous-All,

An always present,

Attentive and wise

Divine Delegate

Sitting quietly

Behind self we know

Sometimes entering

Gaps between our thoughts,

Forever conscious

Of our faculties,

Making perceptive

Karmic inscriptions

Upon Spirit Scroll,

Patiently waiting

For our awareness

To identify

And, therefore, expand.

Serenity (Tanka)

Earth’s most perfect spot
wings, serenity and peace
victor over pain
deep belief in love prevails
vicious dragons will be slain

Hello Friends,

I composed the above Tanka for a friend of mine a while back. She needed a place to curl up and to find comfort. Since we live several thousand miles apart, I could give her comfort only in verse.
I would like to offer it to anyone in need of a little serenity.

Would you like to know more about my work? I will be on Blog Talk Radio today, Tuesday, March 25th, 4:30p.m. EST speaking with host Rita Schiano. You will find us here: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/rita

Have a wonderful day!

Living in Limbo

He thought he had made up his mind,

just as he thought dozens of times in the past.

Make a decision, then stick with it.

The old adage echoed through the canyon of his mind.

Damned if you do,

damned if you don’t,

was his halfhearted reply.

Comfortable existing numbly in limbo,

attachment had become a powerful drug.

The Mystic Muse

The Mystic Muse

Soaring in and out of the rainbow colors in my mind;

Sprinkling stardust ideas; calling on image-breezes;

Spinning the word mill at Spirit-to-Spirit confluence;

Swaying suggestions on branches of composition tree;

Slowly dripping teardrop thoughts from sprigs of Weeping Willow;

Raining down joyful verse from our nimbostratus mindscape;

Pounding out anxious rhythms on a spring Grouse’s thunder;

Skipping across chakras; alighting mandalic labyrinths;

Whisking me away to creative realms of All-That-Is.
