Tiruchirapalli
Tiruchirapalli (also spelled Tiruchchirappalli, commonly known as Tiruchi or Trichy, formerly known as Trichinopoly) is a city situated on the banks of the Kaveri river and is centrally located in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.It has many historic churches, mosques, temples and monuments. It was an important town in the days of the historic rulers of Trichy. A famous landmark is the Rock Fort built during that time. For this the city is also called the "Rock City."
Considered a good educational town, it has schools that are hundreds of years old, many engineering colleges, and a government-run medical college. The National Institute of Technology (formerly the Regional Engineering College) and the Bharathidasan Institute of Management are also located in Tiruchirapalli.
Trichy is also the town nearest to the temple towns of Srirangam, and Thiruvanaikkovil.
