Hexham
Hexham is a market town in Northumberland, England, located above the River Tyne. It originated as a monastery founded by Saint Wilfrid in 671. Its crypt survives, while the large Hexham Abbey dates from the 11th century onward. Hexham is the administrative centre for the Tynedale district.Other notable buildings in the town include the Moot Hall and the Old Gaol.
There are many smaller towns and villages that surround Hexham, such as, Corbridge, Riding Mill, Wylam and Prudhoe. The closest major city to Hexham is Newcastle and is roughly 25 miles to the east.
