Chitradurga is a district located in the Indian state of Karnataka.

The district is also known as Kallina Kote ("the place of the stone fort"), and is home to the "Fort of Seven Rounds", built with large stones. A popular story relates that when King Madakari Nayaka was ruling here, a wife of one of his workers, Onake Obavva, destroyed enemy soldiers attempting to sneak into the fort. She was able to accomplish this single-handedly, using only an onake, a large wooden stick.

And the port is also most seaworthy, because one could not be able to imagine how they built that big port with such a bigger stones.

Davanagere, another district in Karnataka, was formerly part of Chitradurga. Chitradurga is a reserved Constituency. The population is mainly comprised of Kurubas, Nayakas and several other OBCs, with Lingayats being the other major dominant community.

Regionally, Chitradurga is composed of Taluks like Hiriyur, Hosadurga, Holalkere, Shira etc.
