awesome list! It'd be a good idea to put Thomas Hardy in there; Tess of the d'Urbervilles. Stephanie meyer is not considered a classic author.

I AM NEW AT THIS AND AM UNABLE TO COME INTO ANY LIBRARY AS I AM DISABLED, BUT I WANT RO READ, I DONT CARE TOO MUCH FOR AUDIO, THO SOON THAT WILL BE MY ONLY CHOICE.
I WOULD LIKE TO PICK UP ON THE V.C.ANDREWS BOOKS. I STOPPED DUERING "THE WILDFLOWERS" SERIES. IVE BEEN TOLD BY MANY, TO SEARCH W/ MY ZIP CODE FOR MY PUBLIC LIBRARY TO BASICALLY CHECK OUT AND READ PRACTICALLY ANY BOOKS THE LIBRARIES IN VENETA, EUGENE, SPRINGFIELD, OR ANY OTHER PUBLIC LIBRARY IN MY AREA. THAT MAY HAVE THE ON-LINE BOOK SYSTEM TO OFFER. DEPENDING ON HOW FAST A PERSON READS, YOU EITHER DOWN-LOAD A FEW CHAPTERS AT A TIME, THE WHOLE BOOK IF YOU ARE A FAST READER. OR, JUST AS IT IS IF YOU WALK IN TO CHECK BOOKS OUT YOU BOTTOW AS MANY AS YOU WANT AS LONG AS YOU RETUFN ON TIME. I HAVENT ANY IDEA HOW THIS ON-LINE THING WOULD WORK THO, SINCE YOUR NOT ACTUALLY TAKING BOOKS FROM THE FACILITY.
SOUNDS SO COMPLICATED AND YET SO EASY AT THE SAME TIME.
I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP I COULD GET AS SOON AS I COULD GGET IT,,,A PERSON CAN OBLY WATCH SO MUCH T.V. OR SIT DOING NOTHING!!!! I LOVE TO READ, AND WHEN I GET MY STUFF MOVED OUT OF STORAGE, I AM DEFINATLY PLANNING TO DONATE MY BOOKS TO WHOM EVER WANTS THEM. EVERY SERIES IVE READ I HAVE THE COMPLETE SERIES ALLREADY.THANK YOU SAWN

"The mere mention of Stephanie Meyer amongst this list is not only repulsive, but an insult to true great literature"

What defines a classic John...antiquity? Or popularity? I think just because you dont like a book does not make it any less of a book? Literature is first and foremost meant for enjoyment, and many would much rather read a book by Stephanie Meyer than The Art of War, or War and Peace. Yes, recommend books, but please dont shun other peoples recommendation based on your own opinions.

P.s I agree that Catcher in the Rye would be a good one on here.

This is rubbish. The moon's surface temperature can swing between 250 and -387 degrees Fahrenheit between day and night. That's why NASA did not bring an acorn. They didn't bring a watering can. They weren't "too busy" and they didn't forget. This story is a LIE. The science is bad, and that's what makes it lousy.
