Vijay Kumar

Born in India, in its southern State of Kerala, loves traveling, reading and writing. Holds a Master's degree in Agricultural Science. Writes in English and his native language, Malayalam. Poems have appeared in journals and is working presently on a collection of poems. Is of Hindu heritage, has been married for 20 years and has two children. Besides poetry, has written short stories too. Has published a book of poems in native language. Favorite authors include: Neruda, Nikos Kazantsakis, Rilke, Lorca, Paulo Coelho, Tagore, Dan Pagis.

WHEN THE DAWN ARRIVES

When dawn arrives singing
to wake me up,
I lie waiting for the
vigour and warmth of noon.
Later, when the afternoon sea breeze
dance around in a flurry,
When the sand and mind burn
in summertime fury,
I sit silent and alone in my hut,
waiting for the dusk to appear.
Time flies in a chariot,
and in a hurry.
