Stain on a carpet

the window offers a view
beyond the horizon I want to see,
where life continues.
trees, birds, clouds – God’s creations
just like me but not for eternity,
foreverness,
for long.
Maybe for a while, until life’s certainty
takes over
and ends.
But the stain on the carpet
remains.

Starting fresh (in 2009)

resolutions, or so it seems,
is all we care about –
loosing weight and quitting smokes
and definitely getting out
to run a mile or maybe more
            we’ll rid ourselves of flab
we must go earlier to bed
and vow to eat less fat
vacations must be taken soon,
to places we’ve never been
to visit the mountains or a [...]

A ku for you

appreciation
you read my verses and smile
blossoms from within

Undeniable Loneliness

Busy lives and filled calendars
an overflowing schedule book
office meetings, family visits
no speed limit on that road you took.
Children raised by day care nannies
produced by parents on the run
scared to miss out on a promotion
you’d rather die than be outdone.
Power lunch down to the minute
got to catch the faster train
hustle through another day
no time to think [...]

Scent Of Adoration

Is it the spring air teasing my nose?
Could it be tulips growing in rows
of reds and yellows pleasing the eye
or mother nature awaking in spry?
Would a fragile maple tree’s bud
carry such incense for my eyes to shut
or does the delicate leaf of a pansy
distribute aroma like a feathery tansy.
A breeze – so weightless [...]

Standfestigkeit (Nonet)

overwhelming life experience
or just a simple note itself
carries flavors of mankind
although most forgotten
never truly gone
with steadiness
walking tall
beside
me

Serenity (Tanka)

Earth’s most perfect spot
wings, serenity and peace
victor over pain
deep belief in love prevails
vicious dragons will be slain
Hello Friends,
I composed the above Tanka for a friend of mine a while back. She needed a place to curl up and to find comfort. Since we live several thousand miles apart, I could give her comfort only in [...]

You Love Me

You love me – you say
in your arms I sway
because your eyes don’t lie
and I close mine with a sigh.
You need me – you say
letting your fingers play
and your lips whisper an oath
a promise to be kept by us both.
You want me – you say
unclaimed passion every day
under my skin white as snow
the fast [...]
