Even He

even he of the seldom sun
must break the pattern of tiger
to map inwardly the climb towards
the forgotten bottom of stars
if i singular last of beginnings
shall speak without speech
embrace without arms challenge
the nectar in the brain
marked with conspiracy there
atoms there universes perform in the habit
of my construct spectrum tiger-free
finally silhouette pirouetting pain

Landfall

Through maps of thirst and seas,
Traversing the labyrinth of absence,
Your comely sight finally greets me,
Welcoming the distance warrior
From his now distant wars
Into your forbidden shore.
What do I make of life now,
But thirst in search of its music,
And death, but eyes breaking into sight.
It is love to attempt to measure
The immeasurable with mystery of tears.
So, whoever [...]

Beyond Time

There are facts that are certain myths
In this country in the wind,
Where no fire blooms, except for the petal in your eyes,
Where the oil used to summon miracles,
Blows the seasons from their weather.
And the fishes swim in the sky
Where cities sail forth with God’s single breath;
On this country’s nameless mountain the quick rock
Declares the dream [...]

On audible patterns

i imagined these words even before I wrote them
that for instance there would be two lines for each stanza
that i would now be reading on the second stanza
as if i saw the poem even before it happened
when it happened after the children played and signified over the
world of grown-ups
when it happened after voices burst in [...]

Sculpture

Are you a thought
Frozen in bronze?
Or, are you an alloy of copper
And tin shaped to give flesh
To a thought?
When light touches you, is it
The metal that glows?
Or, the thought.

Shore

the wind brings her to me,
the stir of weather, the play of water.

touch sails along secret routes,
till voice comes washing the sand.

water spills into wings.

Musa

I.
it is in distance i come
very close to her,
the guilt more real
and unforgiving –
a moment quivering
with so much nearness.
her breath hot on my face,
scent caressing my lips,
the magic of the reach
between us haunts this hour
when sins are too holy
for their meanings,
too pure for the dark.
she is a miracle, a vocabulary
born of the wind.
II.
it’s already night,
the [...]

Sorcery

It is another thing to wake up in another light:
Bluish, unbelievable, where the faintest thought colludes,
Giving way to mysterious winds.
In such a world, never let go
Of your silence, only yours eyes
Can keep you from this trained magic.
Have faith in the music beyond
Its realness, there’s much more
Even its dead cities can only imagine.
Listen [...]

The Eyes Want to See

The eyes want to see
What is real,
The soul wants to embrace it
Till what was only in dreams
Becomes tangible like the pen
In one’s hand.
Words and lines
Sometimes alight like water
On summer-ridden lips.
The ears want to hear
What is real,
The dream-lyrics
And fresh melody
Rainbow of the soul.
There is wisdom in sticking to her memory
For after she has [...]

Premonition

i feel her presence.
i know we shall meet again, very soon.
what stories will her sweet lips tell?
she is just out there,
the beating of drums reverberate
in everything i touch.
for the past two nights
i had dreams about her.
there’s drizzle like before, all the more
anticipation and fear are awakened in me;
as flowers begin to explode [...]
