My Thoughts On You
He said: “You’ll never know the pain
Of unrequited love”
That lying, cheating idiot,
Off come the gloves.
This is what I dream about,
That you mean what you say,
Isn’t it sad that my fantasy
Is truth, and that you’ll stay?
I mean, other girls, they dream about
So much more than this.
And a little bit of security,
Wouldn’t go a miss.
And you’ve the nerve to talk to me
About other girls you see,
You brag about their beauty,
As if they’re so much more than me.
Is this how you would treat
Someone you cared for?
Because I don’t want to seem ungrateful,
But honey, I want more.
And you know I’d follow you anywhere,
I think the world of you,
But what if this sheep
Found someone new?
You take advantage of how I feel,
Pretend it’s give-and-take,
But all you do is the latter –
You’re nothing but a fake.
I taste the bitterness in my words,
I’m not proud of it, I’m sure.
But what you’re sending my way is
Frankly, pathetic and obscure.
You promised not to hurt me,
But you’ve been doing it all along
And yet I still feel smitten
When I hear your favourite song.
You’re my sweet addiction,
You’re the host, and heartbreak repeated.
And yet you’ve no idea,
For my words you haven’t read.
