Lovesick
“If fire is unrepressed”
He said,
“It makes no good for dripping red.”
Who’d have thought the rebel saint
Played by rules, fearing complaint?
He poured another glass for me,
His eyes turned black with jealousy,
Another’s name was in the air
But he dismissed it with his stare.
He downed the poison, dripping chin,
I followed suit. Wet beads on skin.
An echo that rung through my ear,
False smiles are strung from here to here.
I love the shallow gaze he gives,
But he looks away and asks to forgive,
Yet I don’t know how to tell him I
Love it when he makes me cry.
